Steenberg: More than just a Wine Estate

On the oldest farm in the Constantia Valley sits Steenberg. Here visitors can enjoy the magic of the Winelands while still close to the centre of Cape Town. The estate has something for everyone - an 18 hole championship golf course, wine tasting, Spa, views of False Bay and National Monument buildings dating back to 1682. And, most importantly, great restaurants...

The gorgeous scenery of the Steenberg Estate is breathtaking

Dining at Steenberg

You can dine either at Catharina’s Restaurant, with delicious meals from award-winning chef Garth Almazan, or at the chic cellar restaurant, BistroSixteen82 of Chef Brad Ball, at Steenberg’s state-of-the-art winery. We arrived one wintery night for a dinner at the latter...

BistroSixteen82

The industrial nature of the cellar contrasts beautifully with the natural textures of BistroSixteen82, creating a modern yet inviting atmosphere. On a clear day you can dine on the restaurant's terrace and take in the surrounding views.

Breakfast and lunch feature traditional seasonal menus and at night you can indulge in a tasty tapas extravaganza. Families and friends gather here for a relaxed affair sharing platters featuring the conventional rich flavours of a Spanish Anti Pasti, the Asian influences of a fresh Beef Tataki or the Middle Eastern flavours of Baba Ghanoush.

Breakfast and lunch at BistroSixteen82 offer spectacular views

Our favourites were the Beef Tataki and Calamari - the most tender and flavoursome calamari I have ever eaten outside of Greece.  A word of warning: the menu on the website is only a guideline and doesn’t completely reflect the dishes on any given evening. See keep your mind open to other options when you arrive.

June's Feature Country is Turkey Tapas
Tapas at BistroSixteen82

Being on a wine estate, there are range of wines to choose from, such as the reasonably-priced Klein Steenberg bottles to help wash down your tapas with. We found that the R90 Klein Steenberg Cabernet Sauvignon partnered well with most of the dishes we sampled and it didn’t do much damage to the bill either.

BistroSixteen82 is a combination of modern design with earthy textures and features

BistroSixteen82 is a family-friendly restaurant, open to large groups and they feature a great Children’s Menu to keep the little ones happy.
