Cape Town Pays Tribute to Madiba

In the words of the late, great Nelson Mandela, "It is music and dancing that makes me at peace with the world and at peace with myself."

And so, it was only right that we celebrate Madiba, the man and his life, with a day of music and dance. Along with the likes of Annie Lenox, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Freshlyground and Johnny Clegg, thousands gathered at Cape Town Stadium in Green Point yesterday, draped in the colours of the South African flag and wearing Mandela's face proudly across their chests.

And we all know Mr Clegg can get a crowd going...

It was a day of speeches, poems, music, toyi-toying, laughing, crying, dancing, continuing long past sunset... a day when all South Africans, of different colours and creeds, languages and ages, united for one man.
